Brett Allen Smith is an American filmmaker and journalist, most recently covering warzones in Iraq, Israel and the Palestinian territories.
In 2014 he wrote and directed his debut feature film, Never, starring Zelda Williams (daughter of Robin Williams) in her first starring role. The film was co-produced with Outlaw Productions, the makers of sex, lies, and videotape, and played in cinemas around America in 2016.
Following the release of Never, Brett worked as a freelance documentary journalist in some of the world's most dangerous conflict zones. During this time he co-directed and shot the documentary feature Three Boys for RTL, Germany's largest public broadcaster, which premiered on European TV in over 8 million homes.
In 2021 he was selected for the La Selva Ecosistema Creatiu Film Accelerator in Spain, where he directed the film Mierda under the guide of Oscar-nominated filmmaker Werner Herzog.
